Description

Age: 16-125
ESL level: CEFR A1-A2
Type: peer interview (1-page to print and cut up in pdf format)
Target language: asking and answering questions about social media performance using present perfect and How many?

Description of activity/activities: Students work in small groups. They receive a set of questions, which they put in a pile in the centre of the table face-down. In turns, they draw a card and ask questions in order to be able to answer the question on the card. For example, if the questions is ‘Who has opened the most accounts on one social media network?’, they ask their partners: ‘How many accounts have you opened on instagram/Tik-Tok/etc.?
When they finished, elicit the most surprising/shocking/amazing answers from the groups in an open feedback session.
You can also use this final session to make comparisons. The exercise is suitable to make comparisons with quantifying adverbs: way/far/a bit/slightly more or fewer. Example: Stefan has opened way more accounts on instagram than any of us: he’s got 25 accounts!
