WUP EXERCISE: TWO THINGS WE HAVE IN COMMON

/ A2, B1, B2, C1, Lesson tips, Teachers

December 2020 – THIS IS a WUP/Lead-in exercise you can print and use in your next grammar/conversation lesson. The task is to complete the questionnaire (by giving two answers to different questions) and then mingling around in the classroom to find someone who has these two things in common (which is not as easy as it seems).

The exercise is suitable:
– for a Getting-to-know-you lesson at B1 level and up;
– for a conversation lesson about any of the topics given in the questions (experiences in general);
– for tense revision or a grammar lesson concentrating onto present perfect or future.

You can ask your students to mingle and interview each other or you can put them into pairs and swap the pairs after some minutes.

After open-class feedback, pick one or another sentence to introduce your topic or grammar structure of your lesson.
