YL: Introducing Kids To Simple Past Regular Verbs
November 2020 – If you are teaching kids online or without a structured textbook and you might be looking for some materials how to introduce your students to simple past forms of regular verbs. Here is an idea how to:
Assign a movie for homework to them in the lesson before. The film I suggest is The Emperor’s New Groove, available also on Netflix (since the film is dated, it’s from 2000, you can also find it on different streaming platforms). Students can watch the movie even in their mother tongue, important is that they are familiar with the names and the plot.
In the second lesson, show them this FILM QUIZ (by clicking onto the highlighted words you will be taken to the interactive online form):
In this quiz, students need to complete sentences with 36 regular simple past forms. The exercise is ideal to talk about all particularities of simple past forms (spelling, pronunciation).
