A1 Worksheet: Asking & Answering questions with to be

Type: question-answer drill (1-page worksheet + answer key, PDF format)

Target language: Questions and short answers with to be (third person singular).

Description of activity: Students get a copy of the student’s version and ask the teacher questions about the four people. They use Is he/she …? questions. The answers are short: Yes, he/she is. No, he/she isn’t.

With bigger classes, put the students in groups of three and assign the role of the teacher to one of them. The other students ask him/her about the people.
