A1 Speaking Prompts: Have you got what I need?

ESL Level: CEFR A1

Type: Collaborative task (2 pages to be printed and cut up into cards, PDF format)

Target language: have got (in questions and in short answers)

Description of activities: Put your students into groups of three and give each group a cut-up set of the worksheets. First, they need to choose an activity (first row) and guess what they intend to do (baking pancakes, painting a picture of a vase with flowers, watching a movie). Then, ask them to mix up the object cards and divide them among themselves. In turns, they ask each other if they have got one or the other item from their list. The others can only answer: Yes, I have. No, I haven’t. The aim is to collect all the objects on their list.
