A1 Worksheet: Blind maze (collaborative speaking task)

Description of activity: Students work in pairs and receive a copy of the worksheet (version A or version B). They take turns asking for directions and listening to instructions in five situations, then giving directions in other five situations. The start points and destinations are marked with a point on the grid (e.g., E5). The student providing directions needs to set up a route and explain how to reach the destination point (unknown to their partner). To ask correct questions and give precise instructions, a list of useful expressions is provided (e.g., "Go straight [number] blocks," "Turn left/right"). There are also two follow-up tasks at the bottom of the worksheet. The task integrates well into a curriculum teaching coding, as it provides practice in creating algorithms and following sequences.
